Dry winter air, frequent hand washing, and cold weather can leave skin feeling tight and uncomfortable. This DIY Dry Skin Salve is a simple way to support dry skin using herbs that have traditionally been used in everyday skin care.

It’s easy to make, doesn’t require special equipment, and is a great project to keep on hand during the colder months. It makes a great gift too!

## Dry Skin Salve Recipe

**Ingredients**:
• 1 tbsp dried calendula
• 1 tbsp dried plantain leaf
• 1 tbsp dried chamomile
• 4 oz olive oil
• 1 tbsp beeswax
• 5–10 drops peppermint essential oil (optional)

**Instructions**:
**Step 1**: Add the calendula, plantain leaf, chamomile, and olive oil to a glass jar. Secure the lid.
**Step 2**: Place the jar in a saucepan filled with water and gently heat on the stovetop for 1–2 hours. (A crock pot can also be used).
**Step 3**: Carefully remove the jar and allow it to cool slightly. Strain the infused oil through a fine strainer into a clean glass jar.
**Step 4**: Add the beeswax to the strained oil and place the jar back into the hot water until the beeswax has fully melted.
**Step 5**: Remove from heat, open the lid, and stir in peppermint essential oil if using.
**Step 6**: Pour the mixture while still warm into one 4-oz salve tin or two 2-oz tins.
**Step 7**: Allow the salve to cool completely, then store in a cool, dry place.

How to Use:
Apply to hands, elbows, heels, or other areas that tend to get dry, especially after bathing or before bed.

This salve is a simple way to add a little extra care to your winter routine.

Enjoy!
