## Frequently Asked Questions

### Q: Do I take Ease the Ache daily, or just during my cycle?

A: We recommend taking it 2 – 3 days before your expected period and through the first few days if you experience a lot of cramps or discomfort. If cramps are milder, it can be taken as needed. It is safe to take daily, if needed.

You can learn more about why in [**The Truth About Your Menstrual Cycle.**](https://earthley.com/the-truth-about-your-menstrual-cycle)

### Q: What if my cycle is irregular and I don’t know when my period will start? When should I start taking it? Will it still be beneficial if I don’t start until my period does?

A: You can start taking this as soon as you are experiencing symptoms (bloating, cramping, night sweats, cravings), even if your period may not start for several days. Some of these herbs were historically used to bring on menstruation in women who experienced hormonal imbalances. If you don’t start it until you begin bleeding, it is still beneficial but may take longer to see an affect on cramps.

### Q: Can Ease the Ache help with heavy bleeding, cramps, and other menstrual cycle discomfort?

A: Yes, it may! Many women do experience lighter bleeding while taking this. Herbs that contain vitamin K may support blood health. Many women also have reported a more even mood, fewer cravings, and better sleep while using it.

### Q: Can teenagers or tweens use Ease the Ache?

A: Yes! Girls and young women who are cycling — or are in puberty and may be close — can use this.

Help them learn more about their cycle here: [**The Truth About Your Menstrual Cycle.**](https://earthley.com/the-truth-about-your-menstrual-cycle)

### Q: Can I take Ease the Ache for headaches or other types of discomfort?

A: You can! It may or may not be the right remedy, depending on the underlying reason for the headache. Check out [**A Guide to Headaches & Migraines**](https://earthley.com/products/a-guide-to-headaches/) to help you find the right remedy.

### Q: How do I take this? Can I mix this with juice or a smoothie?

A: All of our tinctures can be taken sublingually (under the tongue), orally, or in juice, water, smoothies, applesauce, etc. -- except for Digest-Support, which must be taken alone with as little water as possible 20 minutes before a meal.

If giving multiples, they can be mixed together in a cup -- except for Digest-Support, which must be taken alone with as little water as possible 20 minutes before a meal.

**Be sure not to let the dropper touch the mouth** as this can cause contamination. When taking yourself, drop from above your mouth under your tongue. When giving to someone else, ask them to open their mouth and lean their head back so you can drop it in.

### Is there a difference between Alcohol and Alcohol-free (glycerin)?

Yes, the difference is in the menstruum (or liquid base) of the tincture and its taste.

**Alcohol-based** tinctures extract herbal properties in slightly different ways than other menstruum. Along with the stronger extracting powers comes the strong taste of alcohol, however. This taste may not be for everyone.

**Alcohol-free** or glycerin-based extracts are powerful yet at extracting herbal properties, just some properties in different ways. The big advantage of glycerin is that it has a very sweet taste. So, while both are great for adults and kids alike, alcohol-free will give you the best chance for kids to like the taste.

You can read more about the differences in our blog, [**What are Tinctures and How Do We Use Them?**](https://earthley.com/earthleys-blogs/what-are-tinctures)
