A: Herb-infused oils are a great way to support the skin! Each one’s tailored just for your skin type. While each ingredient was chosen for a specific reason, here are some highlights: **For dry skin,** helichrysum and lavender tackle redness and flaking while chamomile and tamanu oil hydrate dry, rough skin. **For oily skin**, calendula fights acne while evening primrose soothes irritation. Dandelion and rosehip seed oil cut excess oil without drying you out. We know that it seems odd to say oil helps clear other oils, but have you ever tried cleaning up oil with water? Oil needs oil to budge. **For combo skin, **comfrey and cucumber seed oil smooth texture and supports a balanced, even complexion. While amla and blueberry moisturize dry spots and calm oily ones – all in one go. ### Q: Are these moisturizers good for sensitive or young skin? A: Yes! We use gentle, organic ingredients like chamomile, calendula, and hemp seed oil – perfect for sensitive types. Non-comedogenic and free of harsh chemicals, they won’t clog pores or sting. Patch-test if you’re extra cautious, but they’re beginner-friendly – and even kid-friendly! Our Dry and Oily skin moisturizers are safe for ages 2 years old and up. Our combination skin moisturizer is safe for all ages. ### Q: Why did we make an oil-based skincare line? A: We created an oil-based skincare line because it provides the best benefits for your skin – no matter your skin type! It also doesn’t require preservatives to keep it from degrading like water-based skin care products. We look at each oil in three different ways: - Comedogenic rating (how likely it is to clog pores) - Fatty acid profile - Benefits to skin Every oil has a comedogenic rating from 0 - 5. A rating of 0 means it's been shown to never clog pores. A rating of 5 means it almost always clogs pores. Some oils that have benefits to the skin have a rating of 5. For example, wheat germ oil is really good at fighting scar tissue, but it is a 5, so we don't use it in skin care. (It's good for other parts of your body, though!) It's important to choose oils that rate 0 - 2 whenever possible. Every oil also has a unique fatty acid profile. There are several different fatty acids -- linoleic, oleic, stearic, palmitic, and more. Those first two are found in unsaturated/liquid oils, while the latter two are found in saturated/hard oils. Some skin types need more of one fatty acid than another. Most people don't know this, so they don't consider it when formulating. It's why some products intended for acne-prone skin actually cause breakouts for some people! Finally, every oil has additional properties that make it beneficial to skin in certain ways. An oil may help fight acne, be deeply nourishing, help reduce redness, and more. In order for an oil to be truly beneficial to skin, it has to check all the boxes -- have a low comedogenic rating, the right fatty acid profile, and the right overall skin benefits.
