Description

Elderberry has been a powerful respiratory illness fighter for years. But the elderberry syrups you find on the store shelves are full of extra ingredients that aren’t good for you, and they’re full of sugar. We made these elderberry kits so that you can know exactly what you’re getting and be in control of how sweet you want to make it, and what you want to sweeten it with!

Our syrup kits are special because we don’t just use elderberries alone. We also add other immune-supporting and anti-inflammatory herbs to create a tasty herbal remedy that powerfully fights cold and flu symptoms.

We offer two kits: Immune Support for daily use to help protect the family from illness and Cough and Cold to soothe the sniffles, sore throats, and coughs. Keep both in the house year round to promote overall wellness and recover quickly should sickness occur. Complete directions are included with each elderberry syrup kit. To make each kit, all you need is water and raw honey, maple syrup, or organic sugar.

FAQs

Q: What is the difference between this and Elderberry Elixir?

A: Elderberry Elixir is a concentrated tincture in either glycerin or alcohol. Elderberry syrup is not as concentrated so your dose per day is larger.

Q: What is the difference between the two kits?

A: Immune Support is for daily use to help protect the family from illness. Cough and Cold is to soothe the sniffles, sore throats, and coughs.

Q: If I swap out the honey for maple syrup, can I give this to my child under the age of 1?

A: Yes!

Q: Will taking Elderberry syrup cause me to have a “cytokine storm?”

A: Elderberry can increase the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines, which may be associated with a cytokine reaction and severe complications.  But, elderberry has never explicitly been associated with a cytokine storm nor causing any problems with immune function.

You can read more in depth information here.

Q: Is it safe to take Elderberry syrup if you have an autoimmune disease?

A: Elderberry is safe for most people, but we recommend caution for individuals with autoimmune diseases and those on blood thinners. Caution is warranted in individuals with autoimmune conditions. We recommend trying elderberry for immune support when not sick to see how you’ll react to it.  Don’t try it for the first time when sick. If you find you respond negatively to elderberries, astragalus root may be a better option.

Q: Can I take Elderberry syrup for all viral illnesses, or just cold and flu?

A: Elderberry syrup can be taken for all viral illnesses due to the nature of the herbs we use! All of the herbs can be used to aid your immune response to all viral illnesses, not just the cold and flu viruses.

Q: How much does this make?

A: Approximately 2 cups.

Q: What is the shelf life of this kit? What about the dry ingredients?

A: Shelf life is one year for the dry ingredients. Shelf life for the syrup is one month if refrigerated.

Q: I followed the instructions but there was hardly any liquid left!

A: If you feel like there isn’t much liquid left, you can add water to the finished product. Dosage will not change.

Q: Do you boil it the whole time?

A: Once the water has reached a boil, you add the spices and then turn the water down to a low simmer for 15-20 minutes. After that, remove it from the heat and let it cool for 20-30 minutes before adding your sweetener of choice.

Q: Does it need to be refrigerated?

A: Because there are no preservatives it will need to be refrigerated to last you a long time.
