It Started with One Mom Looking for Better Answers
In 2009, Earthley founder Kate Tietje welcomed her first daughter into the world.
Like many new parents, she expected a few bumps along the way. What she didn't expect was spending those early months searching for answers to recurring health challenges like severe diaper rash, eczema, food sensitivities, and digestive issues.
When the treatments she was prescribed didn't bring the results she hoped for - and in one case made things worse…Kate decided to dig deeper.
She immersed herself in herbalism, nutrition, and traditional wellness practices. After countless hours of studying and experimenting, she created her own herbal diaper cream.
It worked.
Not only did it soothe her daughter's skin gently, but that original formula eventually evolved into what is now our beloved All-Purpose Salve.
That experience changed everything.
Instead of stopping with one recipe, Kate continued learning from experienced herbalists, studying traditional herbal practices, creating remedies for her growing family, and teaching others through workshops and her educational website, Modern Alternative Mama.
As more families began asking for her formulas, Earthley naturally grew from a kitchen full of herbs into the company it is today.
From One Recipe to Hundreds of Thousands of Families
Earthley officially launched in 2016 with one simple goal:

That's why every Earthley product is manufactured in our own cGMP-certified, FDA-inspected facility in Columbus, Ohio. By keeping production in-house, we maintain complete oversight of every step, from sourcing ingredients to bottling, labeling, and shipping.

Kate and her husband, Ben, homeschool their six children and spend much of their time gardening, growing herbs, caring for animals, and teaching the next generation to appreciate God's creation and steward it well.
Behind the scenes, our incredible team of more than 160 employees helps formulate products, manufacture remedies, package orders, answer customer questions, write educational content, and support families every single day.
