Earthley is a locally-owned business. We started right here in the Central Ohio area back in 2016. We manufacture all our wellness products here, and we have a retail store here, too. Being a part of this community is important to us!

Why Earthley?
We know you’ve probably seen lots of natural companies out there, and it’s hard to know who to trust. That’s why we’re going to tell you what makes us unique!
Greenwashing VS Transparency
We believe in full transparency. That means we don’t use pretty labels and fancy buzzwords to trick you into thinking we’re clean – we really are clean! We think labels should be easy to read and not require a chemistry book to understand. That’s why you’ll find ingredients in our products like:
- Organic herbs (calendula, clove, elderberry, and more)
- Organic oils (apricot, olive, jojoba, and others)
- Essential oils
- Salt and clay
- …and not much else
We don’t do “clean chemicals.” We do whole ingredients, minimally processed, as close to nature as possible.
What you won’t see on our labels:
- Natural or artificial flavors
- Artificial colors
- Synthetic vitamins
- Synthetic preservatives
- Detergents
- Added sugar
- Parabens
- Phthlates

Affordability
We think that natural health is for everyone, not just those who can afford luxury brands. That’s why we keep our prices, on average, 39% lower than others! We prioritize access for all over corporate bonuses.
Our pricing is fair, reasonable, and transparent. We want you to feel comfortable that natural health fits in your budget and that you don’t have to compromise.
In-House Manufacturing
One reason we can be so high quality and so affordable is because we manufacture everything in-house. We don’t outsource our formulations or production to third-party contract manufacturers; we make it ourselves. In fact, we manufacture right here in Columbus, Ohio!
That means when we say we know exactly what’s in our products – and what isn’t – we know for sure.

- Compost-friendly (all herbs are composted after use)

We take our job seriously! We know we can do it right, and if we don’t know how, we figure it out.
Certifications
Best of all? You don’t have to take our word for any of this! We have third-party certifications to back up how clean our products really are and how seriously we take our manufacturing.
These certifications require a lot of work, including end-to-end transparency paper trails, regular site audits, complete transparency of all our raw materials, and more.
We are:
- Leaping Bunny certified (no animal testing anywhere in our supply chain)
- cGMP-certified (clean dietary supplements and personal care)
- ISO 22716 certified (clean personal care)
All of these certifications require us to annually re-certify and prove that we’re in compliance, so it’s an ongoing process of transparency and cleanliness.
Who We Are
That’s why we’re great, but it’s not why we got started, and we think that the people behind the products matter, too.
We are proudly family owned by Kate and Ben Tietje.
Kate was inspired to start the company many years ago. Her baby daughter had chronic diaper rash, eczema, food allergies, and other health challenges. The doctors told her that it was all “normal” – but she wouldn’t accept that answer!
The turning point was when a doctor prescribed an antibiotic cream for her baby’s rash, which did not help the rash at all, but caused her baby’s eczema to flare. She tossed the cream and went looking for other answers, landing on a homemade salve.
It worked!
Kate was so excited that she began heavily researching herbs and incorporating them into her family’s life. She started sharing about her journey on her blog, Modern Alternative Mama, in 2009. Within a few years, her followers were asking her to make products for them – they trusted her recipes and were too busy to make them all at home.
That’s how Earthley was born! We launched our first product, our Elderberry Syrup Kit, in the fall of 2016, and it took off from there.
Any time we want a truly clean version of a product, we create it. That’s how we ended up with over 140 different products – which, yes, were truly all formulated and produced in-house.
